Johann Georg Schmidtpeter (John George Smithpeter) arrived on the ship, Rowand, a snow, from Rotterdam 2 October 1752.  He claimed a headright of 100 acres of land on 30 October 1752. He later leased/released that land to Archibald Dunbar.  He acquired 200 acres on the south side of the Saluda at Saxe Gotha Township. John George Schmidtpeter (Smithpeter) met his death at the hands of  Jacob Weber and his followers on 24 February 1761. His estate was settled in November 1761 by his wife, Caterin Smithpeter. In 1778 his son, John Michael Smithpeter, sold the 200 acres to John Kleckley, a weaver from Orangeburg District.

Read the Petition of George SmithPader humbly setting forth That your Peti'r shipt himself and Family on the Encouragem' given to Forreign Protestants by the ship Rowand, Capt. Fran from Rotterdam and to this Province, and did in Holland pay his freight and is desirous to settle here with his Family that he has a Wife and never had any land granted him in this Province, prays to lay out 100 acres of land in this province free of charges and that he may have his most gracious Maj's Provision Bounty. Cha's Town, the 24th day of Octob'r 1752.  Geo. SmithpaderThe prayer thereof was granted.

Pursuant to a Precept directed by George Hunter Esqr SGen. dated the 31st day of Oct. 1752. I have Surveyed and laid out unto Jno. Geo. Smith Pader a tract of Land Containing One hundred acres Situate lying and being on the North Side of Saludie bartting & bounding to the SWestwad by said Saludie and the other three sides bounded by vacant Land and hath such shape and form and marks as the above platt rerpresents. Certified the 10th of April 1752   John Hamilton Esq. Surveyor.   (NE 35.31.62 and SE 55.31.62)

Westward by Said River to the NWward NEward and South Eastward by vacant Land Originally granted the 2nd day of January 1756 to John George Smith Peeder ______  money per hundred acres from the date and Conveyed by him to the _____ by Lease and Certifyed by Release bearing date the 19th & 20th days of May 1756.  ______ In Witness whereof he hath hereunto set his hand the 2nd of said say of August 1765,  the memorialist.  George Barnard S. Lease and rlease.  4 & 5 Nov 1778, Michael SmithPeter of state of Virginia, yeoman, to John Cleckly of Orangeburgh District, SC, weaver, for 1000 pounds SC money, 200 acres, 150 acres orginally granted to Frederick Arnold 12 April 1744 and 50 acres granted to Anne Baumgart 13 April 1746, said tracts joining together on south side Saludy River in Saxegotha Township, which said two tracts of land conveyed to George SmithPeter  deceased, and the above Michael SmithPeter being the eldest son and heir at law.  John Michael SmithPeter  (LS), Witnessed: Benjamin Grubb, Thomas Belcher (x).
